The reserves had dropped $5.40 billion to $643.16 billion in the previous reporting week, ending a multi-week trend of an increase, which also saw the overall reserves touching a new all-time high of $$648.56 billion for the week ended April 5.

As per the latest data released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the country's foreign exchange kitty declined by $5.40 billion to $643.16 billion in the April 12 week. India's foreign currency assets (FCA), the biggest component of the forex reserves, declined by $6.51 billion to $564.65 billion, the central bank's weekly statistical data showed.

Rediff.com12 Apr 2024India's forex reserves jumped by $2.98 billion to a fresh peak of $648.56 billion for the week ended April 5, the RBI said on Friday. In the previous reporting week, the forex kitty had increased by $2.951 billion to $645.583 billion, which was an all-time high. In September 2021, the country's forex kitty reached an all-time high of $642.453 billion, a level that was breached in March this year.

India's exports rise 11.9% in Feb, highest in 11 months
Rediff.com15 Mar 2024India recorded the highest monthly exports during the fiscal in February, registering an 11.9 per cent growth to $41.4 billion, mainly driven by increased shipments of engineering goods, electronic items and pharma products. The trade deficit during February worked out to $18.7 billion, up from $16.57 billion in the year-ago month, as gold imports surged significantly. Merchandise imports were valued at $60.11 billion, up 12.16 per cent compared to $53.58 per cent in February 2023.
